Every Friday, students put their skills to the test in our signature culinary competition — judged by professional chefs and industry experts. We broadcast this competition on Zoom, and each location starts at about 3pm. It is such a fun, heart-felt, light-hearted experience.
The Ultimate Culinary Challenge
At Summer Culinary, the week builds toward one exciting moment: Friday Competition Day. Students form teams, receive a mystery basket of ingredients, and have a set time to create a dish that wows our panel of judges.
It's not just about cooking — it's about creativity, teamwork, plating, and presenting your dish with confidence. Our judges score on taste, technique, presentation, and originality.
Win or lose, every student walks away with a deeper understanding of what it means to perform under pressure — a skill that defines every great chef. The real skill building happens behind the scenes. Our program is future-forward, where our students develop life-skills like leadership and confidence.
How It Works
Form Teams - Mystery Basket Reveal
Students form teams, and receive a curated selection of ingredients — some familiar, and one surprise. The challenge begins the moment the basket is opened.
Prep & Cook
Students have a set window to plan, prep, and execute their dish. Instructors are present but the creative decisions belong entirely to the team.
Plate & Present
Each team plates their dinner: Drink, Appetizer, Entree, and Dessert. The presentation is key. Each student presents their dish to the judges.
Judging & Feedback
Judges score on taste, technique, presentation, and creativity — then offer detailed feedback every student can learn from.
